On Wednesday morning, three-star defensive end Caleb Okechukwu committed to Syracuse, he announced on Twitter.

Okechukwu sent in his National Letter of Intent which was received by the Orange, according to a tweet from SU head coach Dino Babers.

Okechukwu is the No. 76 strong-side defensive end in the class of 2018 and a three-star prospect, according to 247sports.com. He is the first defensive lineman inked in SU’s 2018 recruiting class.

Arkansas, Massachusetts and SU were Okechukwu’s major suitors, and he took official visits to each school in the past two months. 247sports’ Crystal Ball predicted a 71 percent chance of Okechukwu picking the Orange. He also held scholarship offers from Tennessee, Arizona and California, among others.

The St. John’s College (Washington D.C.) High School prospect stands 6-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 240 pounds. Okechukwu runs a 4.51 second shuttle, per his Hudl.com profile.

Okechukwu is the 18th signee in Dino Babers’ 2018 class and is currently the only defensive end. Track the rest of the Class of 2018 here.
